merrill and justin osmond | musical fireside “gospel in action”| photographer: elisha j. schabel

What a special and amazing night Sunday, September 16th, 2012. It was a privilege to hear Merrill Osmond and Justin Osmond’s words both spoken, sung, and played via violin at their fireside, “Gospel in Action”. Such amazingly uplifting and inspiring words were spoken and an amazing spirit was felt. I have personally known Justin for almost 9 yrs now and have always been super impressed by his character, his spirit, and what he does for the deaf, as he has a 92% hearing loss and knows first hand the joy these hearing aids brings to children. Back when I met him he was traveling around the world for Starkey Hearing Foundation giving the gift of hearing to underprivileged children. He has since created the Olive Osmond Hearing Fund, doing the same thing. He has traveled to over 50 countries. It was touching to actually see what he does in action, via a slideshow he shared with us. I pretty much cried most of the night, especially when Justin played his violin for us, the song “Touch of the Master’s Hand” Those who weren’t there, truly missed out. There is a special light about both of them. You just want to bask in that light for as long as you can. We all left feeling uplifted, desiring to be better and do better, and to serve those around us. They raise awareness, educate and accommodate the needs of those who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. It was a special treat to personally have so much time afterwords taking pictures and speaking with both on a very personal level. Merrill shared very intimate and special words with me that I shall never forget. This night changed my life in such a profound and personal way. They both are “salt of the earth” and very down to earth people. I’m grateful for both for taking the time to share their life with us and their light and their touching words. I’m also grateful to have met Vanessa Joy! She is such a special lady and her voice is one with the angels. She sang the sweetest song called “Prayer” for us and started the fireside with such an amazing spirit of peace, comfort, and joy.
